JENNIFER K. SIDDENS
I’ve been an artist in one form or another for as long as I can remember. Since becoming a mother, it’s distilled down into two distinct but deeply connected practices: collage and illustration.
My collage work is rooted in freedom - abstract, layered, and often filled with words I need to get out of my head. The colors and tones reflect my enduring love for the rugged, windswept beauty of the Northern Californian coast I call home, making the pieces subdued, ephemeral, like a memory you can’t quite place.
In contrast, my illustration work is born from the small pockets of time I carve out in a full, family-filled life. I draw on my iPad, often late at night or early in the morning, surrounded by the chaos and comedy of raising two boys. The stories that come through - children in the midst of adventure, animals in scarves driving improbable cars - are rooted in the world of parenting, whimsy, and that beautiful thing called make-believe.
Thanks for being here. I hope this space brings you a small moment of joy and beauty. And maybe a little relief from the general chaos of this modern life.
